Position Overview:
As a Motor Mechanic (General) at our site, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of engines and related systems in lightweight mining equipment. Your expertise will ensure that our machinery operates efficiently and reliably, supporting our mining operations and minimising downtime.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel engines and heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, haul trucks and graders
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues, including engine performance problems, hydraulic system failures, and electrical faults
• Overhaul and rebuild diesel engines and other key components as needed
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including parts used and labour hours
• Collaborate with other maintenance staff and supervisors to plan and execute repairs and preventative maintenance
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations and company standards
• Assist with ordering and maintaining inventory of necessary parts and tools
• Assist with the development and implementation of maintenance procedures and best practices
• Respond to breakdowns and urgent repair needs promptly, prioritizing tasks based on operational requirements
Requirements
• Trade or equivalent qualification is preferable
• 2 – 3 years of experience as a Motor Mechanic
• Strong understanding of engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
