Earthmoving Plant Operator

Asphaltech have recently expanded and opened a new asphalt plant in Picton, WA. We are looking for suitable candidates who live in the area to join the team. Asphaltech are looking for an experienced earthmoving Plant Operator. This is a full-time permanent position, and you will be required to work on projects in Bunbury and the Southwest.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

• Ensuring the Pre-Start Checklists are carried out prior to the operation of the excavator.
• Able to operate earthmoving plant for road maintenance projects.
• Operate plant controls / remotes to move, spread, compact material for road projects.
• Raising and lowering the screed using hydraulics to ensure the correct levels.
• Be able to follow specified drawings and plans.
• Ensuring machinery is free of any undue maintenance or service by servicing, cleaning, and lubricating.
• Assisting with other civil duties including general labouring, when required.

Skills and Experience

Qualifications:
• Construction Induction Card (White Card)
• Current Drivers Licence C Class
• Certificates and tickets for earth moving machinery.

Experience:
• Proven experience operating plant for road projects
• Proven experience working on similar projects.

Skills:
• Technical ability to carry out job effectively.
• Physically capable of manual labour.
• Ability to work as a team member.
• Willingness to learn and improve.
• Ability to solve problems, make suggestions, resourceful, improve job outcome.
• Ability to cope with difficult working conditions (eg. Noise, heat, dust).
• Willingness to work extra hours.

At Asphaltech we want you to succeed in your position, training and development will be provided throughout your employment.

As part of the recruitment process, you will be required to have a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen.

The pay is an hourly rate plus penalties. The range is $72,000 to $85,000 which includes overtime.
