Chef – Aspendale
Kogan People Solutions are retained by a successful venue in Aspendale offering dining options throughout every day of the week to diverse and mostly in house residents. To ensure the continued successful operation of this venue they now seek to appoint a well experienced qualified Chef to lead the kitchen.
Location – Aspendale Vic
Tenure – Full time ongoing
About the role
This is a busy position in a substantial venue with a solid reputation for the provision of quality meals. It’s a full-time position and you will be required across the week.
Responsibilities
• Lead, guide and inspire our kitchen team to deliver the best results
• Supervise, and participate in, the preparation of all food items
• Manage kitchen consumables, stock takes, ordering, cost control and budgeting
• Staff rostering and training.
• In consultation with all the Management team, develop, test, and introduce new menu items.
• Compliance with OH&S and Food Safety standards
• Ensure that the dietary needs of a diverse and demanding group of residents are always professionally and sympathetically addressed.
About you
You have a passion for the hospitality industry and are up to date on techniques and food trends. You can demonstrate a commitment to flavour and presentation of the highest quality, whilst aligning and motivating a cohesive and hardworking team environment. Ideally you will have strong expertise across vegetarian, seafood and other traditional protein-based meal preparation.
To be successfully considered, you:
• Possess excellent relevant post-secondary qualifications, to at least a relevant Diploma.
• Have at least 2 to 3 years professional experience since earning your qualifications.
• Are available across the working week including late shifts as may be necessary from time to time
• Offer proven ability to prioritise, set goals and have the determination to achieve them
• Possess a thorough understanding of food safety OH&S and HACCP, and enforcing those requirements on the team
• Understand cost control, time management, prioritization, and cost-efficient procurement practices.
• Have substantial experience working in a similar role ideally in the aged care and special needs sectors.
• You are an excellent people manager able to get the most out of your team.
• Possess broad cuisine exposure
