Leading Hand - Field Service Engineer

Provide support to:

The Workshop Manager, when working in the workshop
The Site supervisor, when working in the field
The support required is related to planning & execution of workshop & field service jobs, as directed. This includes but not limited to: inspection, service and repair of rotating equipment (steam turbines, axial and centrifugal compressors, integrally geared compressors, reciprocating compressors, gearboxes, blowers and pumps)

As this is a leading hand position there is a level of responsibility & job ownership is placed upon the position that is above what is expected of a fitter/technician.

The position will be based in IPS Somersby workshop/office but will encompass working in the workshop and in the field.

Your main roles & responsibilities are:

Assistance in WHS&E related issues within the workshop and on field service (documentation, consultation, injury avoidance, injury management, compliance with current WHS&E legislations)
Working under limited supervision either individually or in a team environment
Day to day support to the Workshop Manager, when working in the workshop or field service engineer/site supervisor, when working in the field.
Support all activities related to the service, installation, repair or maintenance of IPS Australia and client products and other products taken on for service or repairs
As directed by workshop manager/site supervisor, assist with providing direction and support to a team of mechanical fitters and liaising with mechanical engineers to ensure that the tasks are performed safely & to the required quality standards.
Development of specific quality documentation and repair plans/procedures (Inspection and Test Plans, Inspection Record Sheets, Work Procedures)
Understanding, implementing, and adherence to QA techniques and procedures
Examination of detailed drawings or specification to find out job, material and equipment requirement for tasks to be executed correctly.
Disassemble, inspect, repair & reassemble a variety of rotating equipment as per the relevant instructions, procedures, drawings & QA documentation.
Problem solving and troubleshooting technical issues
Provide technical customer support to client and internal sales team
Participation in training activities, as well as development and execution of training activities
Contribute ideas and support continuous improvement programs
To be qualified, candidates must:

Proficient knowledge in rotating equipment such as steam turbines, axial and centrifugal compressors, integrally geared compressors, reciprocating compressors, gearboxes, blowers and pumps
Trade Certificate - Fitting & Machining or Degree in Mechanical Engineering
At least 4 years experience in rotating equipment industry as tradesperson or at least 2 years experience as mechanical engineer
Familiar with specific maintenance procedures for rotating equipment
Leadership skills
Proficient computer skills
