Our client N&M2B Pty Ltd. T/A Indian Hypermarket sells groceries & products of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepalese, Afghan, Bangladesh & Middle East at wholesale price. The client is currently seeking a talented Checkout Supervisor who has a passion for retail, and your role primarily focuses on overseeing the checkout area and ensuring efficient and smooth operations. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the checkouts and front-end staff. This role would suit a person with a positive, hands-on approach to management and enjoys a fast-paced environment. Your role as a Checkout Supervisor is critical in ensuring that customers have a positive checkout experience, and that the checkout area operates efficiently to meet the store's goals.
Minimum Requirements:
• AQF Certificate II or III in the relevant field
• 2+ years' experience in a similar role This role demands a naturally energetic and flexible individual with a "Can-do" attitude who is accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment and has proven capacity to work well under pressure and to strict rolling timelines. The successful applicant will also require the capacity to deal effectively with multiple tasks and competing demands.
In this role your main responsibilities include:
• Supervising checkout staff, including cashiers and baggers, assigning tasks, and managing their schedules.
• Ensuring high-quality customer service at the checkout, resolving any issues or complaints, and assisting with difficult transactions.
• Monitoring checkout lanes to ensure they are adequately staffed and managing queues during peak times to minimize wait times.
• Overseeing cashiers' handling of cash, ensuring accuracy in transactions, and reconciling cash drawers at the end of shifts.
• Providing training to new checkout staff, conducting performance evaluations, and identifying areas for improvement.
• Monitoring and managing inventory of checkout supplies such as bags, receipt paper, and change, and coordinating orders as needed.
• Implementing security procedures to prevent theft, monitoring for suspicious behavior, and addressing any security issues that arise.
• Overseeing the proper functioning of checkout equipment, such as cash registers, scanners, and card readers, and coordinating repairs when necessary.
• Ensuring compliance with company policies, as well as legal and regulatory requirements related to checkout operations, including handling of sensitive customer information.
• Taking inventory of goods for sale and ordering new stock
• Ensuring that goods and services are correctly priced and displayed
• Serving as a point of contact between checkout staff and store management, relaying important information, and addressing any concerns or feedback from staff.
You will need to possess the following skills and personal attributes:
• Strong leadership skills, guiding and inspiring the team, leading by example
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Previous experience monitoring and training a team of checkout staff
• Experience with rostering
• Strong organisational skills and effective delegation skills
