KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and cook authentic Indian cuisine, maintaining the highest standards of quality and flavor.
Use a variety of cooking techniques, including grilling, frying, braising, and steaming, to create traditional Indian dishes.
Work with fresh and high-quality ingredients to prepare dishes such as Butter Chicken, Rogan Josh, Vindaloo, and other popular curries and entrees.
Ensure consistency in flavor, texture, and presentation of all dishes served, adhering to Touch of India's high standards.
Collaborate with the kitchen team to manage food preparation and service efficiency, especially during peak hours.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, following all relevant health and safety regulations.
Manage food inventory and collaborate with the team to place orders for ingredients, ensuring freshness and minimizing waste.
Create and modify menu items based on seasonal availability and customer preferences, incorporating traditional and modern Indian cooking techniques.
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, sharing knowledge of Indian cuisine and cooking techniques.
Ensure proper storage of food items in compliance with health and safety standards.
REQUIREMENTS:
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Asian Cookery (or equivalent).
Minimum of 3 years of experience in preparing Indian cuisine in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Deep understanding of Indian spices, ingredients, and traditional cooking methods.
Ability to work under pressure, especially during busy service periods, while maintaining high quality.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality dishes.
Experience in menu development, food costing, and kitchen management is highly regarded.
Passion for authentic Indian cuisine and a commitment to preserving its cultural heritage.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and mentor junior chefs.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Flexibility to work in a dynamic kitchen environment, including weekends and evenings.
