The Unique Garage is seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for detecting, diagnosing, and repairing faults in motor vehicle engines, transmissions, and other mechanical components. This role requires an individual with a strong technical background, attention to detail, and the ability to perform both repair and maintenance services efficiently.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fault Diagnosis: Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in motor vehicle engines, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other mechanical components using diagnostic equipment and testing procedures.
Disassembly and Reassembly: Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, and other vehicle parts for repairs, replacements, or overhauls. Reassemble mechanical components following the manufacturer’s technical specifications and service manuals.
Repairs and Replacements: Repair or replace worn, damaged, or defective parts such as bearings, pistons, gears, and belts to restore vehicle functionality.
Scheduled Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, engine tune-ups, and air conditioning services to maintain optimal vehicle performance and efficiency.
Pollution Control Compliance: Ensure all repairs and maintenance tasks are performed in compliance with pollution regulations, including proper disposal of waste materials and use of approved fluids and parts.
Vehicle Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to assess roadworthiness and issue necessary certifications for vehicles that pass inspections.
Testing and Adjustments: Test and adjust mechanical systems post-repair to ensure proper operation, including engine performance, transmission function, and brake systems.
Tyre Services: Perform tyre fitting, wheel balancing, and other related maintenance tasks to ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy.
Technical Documentation: Use service manuals, technical documents, and schematics to carry out accurate repair procedures and ensure all repairs meet the required standards.
REQUIREMENTS:
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis or equivalent.
At least 2 years of hands-on experience in mechanical repairs, vehicle servicing, and maintenance in a professional workshop setting.
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work with technical documentation and service manuals.
Experience using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment.
Good understanding of vehicle safety standards and pollution control regulations.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
