Electrical Maintenance Team Leader

BlueScope

BlueScope company logo

BlueScope is an Australian-born global success story spanning 15 countries. Our team of over 16,500 people is our strength and we want our people to be safe, successful and well. We’re leaders and innovators in transforming steel into smart products and solutions that support society, today and in the future. We’re proud of brands, like COLORBOND ® steel that inspire and protect everything from hospitals to bridges and stadiums.

The Opportunity

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for an Electrical Maintenance Team Leader in our Slabmaking team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

At our facility, the process begins with molten iron produced by our Blast Furnace, which is then transferred to our Basic Oxygen Steel Furnace (BOS). There, it is mixed with recycled steel to create molten steel, the molten steel is subsequently transferred to the Steel Treatment section, where its grade is refined to meet customer specifications before being cast into slabs at the Slab Caster. The BOS handles most of the steel processing, while the Steel Treatment section completes the final 10%. From here, the molten steel is poured into slab casters, resulting in a finished slab of steel ready for its next stage.

In this specialised leadership role, you will lead a multi-skilled Electrical team focusing on the delivery of Electrical Maintenance requirements for our Steel Treatment plant, Slabmaking cranes, and Slabmaking services within the department, while ensuring you champion a safety-first culture. To ensure operational productivity and asset preservation targets are achieved, you’ll provide technical expertise on challenges with our equipment and manage the team’s success through their performance and productivity to ensure our business plan objectives and targets are continually met.

  • manage asset maintenance and improvement strategies aligned to Slabmaking objectives
  • build effective relationships to drive the continuous reliability of our Slabmaking assets
  • supervise, mentor and develop a team of electrical coordinators and trade personnel to enhance their capabilities

 More About You

As an enthusiastic and motivated leader, you will demonstrate a willingness to develop your team to achieve success. You will bring:

  • tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or an Electrical Trade
  • an electrical licence
  • a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself, your team and others
  • experience working in a similar industry within Electrical Maintenance, with a strong focus on defect elimination and equipment reliability
