Task & Responsibilities Design and develop innovative menus that balance classic pub fare with contemporary dishes, taking into account seasonal ingredients and local produce. Oversee and participate in the preparation and cooking of meals, ensuring high-quality presentation and flavor in every dish. Monitor portion sizes and waste to control food costs. Lead, train, and mentor the kitchen staff, fostering a positive and efficient work environment. Ensure all team members adhere to food safety standards and kitchen procedures. Ensure consistency in food preparation and presentation by monitoring food quality, portion sizes, and cooking methods. Conduct regular checks to maintain the highest standards. Enforce compliance with health and safety regulations, including food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards, to ensure a safe and clean working environment. Manage inventory of ingredients and kitchen supplies. Order ingredients and supplies as needed, maintaining relationships with suppliers. Control food costs by minimizing waste and optimizing the use of ingredients. Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure customer satisfaction by accommodating special requests, managing dietary needs, and handling customer feedback professionally. Work closely with the head chef to run kitchen operations smoothly and assist in setting and managing the kitchen budget. Plan and execute special menus for events, functions, and catering services. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices. Qualification & Experience • Be qualified in hospitality with AQF associate degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2) or have minimum three years’ experience as a Chef in a Commercial Kitchen • Ideally at least 2 years full-time experience • Experience creating exciting menus Skills The successful candidate will have a passion for the hospitality industry and be career focused.
