Gustoso is a primarily Italian/Mediterranean cuisine restaurant, serving a variety of meals including Italian dishes and catering to a diverse range of customers. Our restaurant is open 7 days a week.
We are currently seeking an experienced and self-motivated Head Chef to join our busy kitchen team for ongoing engagement.

The key duties and responsibilities will include:

• Collaborating closely with all team members to achieve the highest quality service, presentation, and delivery to all customers.
• Prepare and cook dishes.
• Enforcing occupational health and safety standards, including hygiene.
• Taking a hands-on approach to food service within the kitchen while maintaining high levels of daily service.
• Planning the menu.
• Providing estimates for food orders and costs.
• Cooking and presenting dishes.
• Maintaining a strong focus on quality and stock control.
• Introducing new Italian recipes.
• Coordinating with managers and directors as required.
• Upholding high team morale and effectively motivating, leading, and inspiring the team.
• Planning and preparing dishes to accommodate various dietary and cultural needs.
• Estimating and setting appropriate portion sizes.
• Training and upskilling existing staff and showcasing techniques.
• Implementing robust communication methods with all team members.
• Develop and sustain efficient recruitment, induction, and training processes.
• Contribute directly to weekly roster planning.
• Collaborating closely with team members to ensure top-quality service, presentation, and customer satisfaction.
• Prepare Italian/ Mediterranean dishes and seasonings, including pasta, pizza and lasagna.
• Adhere to budget constraints for labour and goods costs.
• Manage stock orders to stay within budgetary limits.
• Showcasing methods and offering guidance on cooking techniques.

The ideal candidate will have:
• Over 5 years of relevant experience.
• Trade qualification.
• Exceptional leadership skills.
• Strong motivation and ability to perform well under pressure.
• A proactive, responsible, and adaptable approach to work.
• Friendly and customer-oriented demeanor.
• Effective leadership, creativity, and genuine passion for the industry.
• Deep understanding of food, hygiene, and workplace safety standards.
• Preferably, the ability to explain the Italian/ Mediterranean menu to both staff and customers.
This is a full-time salaried position, involving shifts across a 7-day roster.
Salary: $73, 150.
