Job Summary: The Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the financial operations of a company that provides services under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). This role involves handling financial transactions, ensuring compliance with NDIS funding requirements, preparing financial reports, and maintaining accurate financial records. The Accountant will collaborate closely with the finance team and other departments to ensure smooth financial operations, regulatory compliance, and informed decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with all departments and the management team to provide financial insights that inform business decisions and managerial planning.
Perform cost management, pricing analysis, and financial forecasting to support business objectives.
Lead financial planning and budgeting processes for the organization.
Implement cost-saving strategies and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
Monitor spending to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
Analyze the company’s financial performance and provide long-term financial forecasts.
Recommend strategies to reduce costs and enhance financial efficiency.
Conduct audits and provide detailed analysis and insights based on audit outcomes.
Monitor and review cost performance and contribute to the implementation of benchmarking and quality improvement initiatives.
Assist in the formulation of budgetary and accounting policies.
Prepare annual financial statements and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
Review financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with all relevant regulations.
Examine operating costs, income, and expenditure to ensure optimal financial management.
Manage financial and taxation matters related to business structures, plans, and operations, reporting to senior management.
Prepare and manage taxation returns for both employees and the company.
Maintain and update accounting systems regularly to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Communicate effectively with senior management and external stakeholders, providing clear and actionable financial insights.
Manage and oversee internal control systems to ensure robust financial governance.
Supervise accounting staff to ensure all financial management and accounting functions comply with legislative and regulatory requirements.
Demonstrate proven experience working with large-scale NDIS providers.
Prepare and finalize annual statutory financial statements.
Perform and approve general ledger reconciliations and analyses, ensuring the accuracy of end-of-month financial management .
Attend to FBT, PAYG, GST, PAYROLL, and tax matters as required.
Experience in disability service providers and in particular NDIS claiming operations will be preferred
At least 2 years of experience as an accountant and exposure to most of the duties advertised would be desirable.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in commerce/accounting or higher
