The Wood Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and running moulders, CNC’s and operate woodworking machinery.

Key Responsibilities
• Manual handling skills,
• Ability to make judgements visually of size and shape,
• Ability to operate pre-set cutting equipment,
• Can operate hand tools, saws/machine/equipment safely,
• Intermediate knowledge of timber use and value,
• Responsible for keeping work area safe and clean.
• Responsible for identifying and solve problems which occur in the work process and for identifying and reporting problems outside own work process,
• Works from complex instructions and procedures,
• May assist trainers in provision of on-the-job training,
• Works in a team environment or works individually under general supervision;
• Maintains plant and equipment (including lubrication);
• Demonstrates intermediate keyboard skills including CNC operations in saws/and or machines;
• Sets up, monitors and operates twin edgers, single and double bandsaws, circular saws;
• Selects, best materials for manufacture and from stock for filling orders, including counting, measuring and checking completed orders and preparing for dispatch;
General
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented,
• Adhere to and administer Company Health & Safety policies and procedures and WHS Acts & Regulations.
To be successful in this position previous experience in machine operation developed within an FMCG Manufacturing company is required, or at least an industrial or operations organisation where quality processes are key.
Additionally, a trade qualification, or recognised training in wood turning/machining, would be highly desirable, as would training in manual handling and workplace safety practices.
Must perform his/her duties under general supervision and will be required to exercise initiative and broad decision-making within a regular work routine whist having attention to detail.
This experience will be supported by a professional and friendly attitude, maturity and a common-sense approach to process work
Qualifications and Technical Skills:
• (Minimum) School Certificate (or similar)
• Relevant qualifications or at least recognised training in wood turning or machining and/or paint application
• Functional and Practical understanding of the Building Industry
• Good Product knowledge
