Project Support Officer - Climate

This role will support and deliver climate action related projects (carbon reduction and climate adaptation) for the Climate Action Integration team.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Undertake a range of project related tasks to support the Climate Action Integration team to develop and deliver projects (both carbon reduction and climate adaptation projects).
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support their awareness, participation and delivery of climate considerations and relevant actions.
  • Develop and maintain web-based content for the Climate Action Integration team and in collaboration with Strategic Communications and Advocacy Department.
  • Prepare communications materials for a range of media in line with Council’s Communications Guidelines.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders within Council and the wider community to promote climate action programs and activities including representing Council at community events.
  • Provide timely, clear, and accurate information on activities and programs undertaken within the team.
  • Provide assistance in promoting/marketing of activities and programs internally and externally.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

  • Ability and willingness to think about, create, design, and implement solutions as a part of project teams with the guidance from the Senior Sustainable Environment Officer, while managing your workload across various projects.
  • Sound understanding of sustainability and climate change issues and how they relate to Council, the Hume community, and Hume City.
  • The ability to gain co-operation and communicate complex issues effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to listen to and understand customer and staff needs and expectations, identify the appropriate action and respond accordingly.
  • Demonstrated ability to support the work of a high performing team across multiple projects, engagements, and communications materials.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) for effective interaction and engagement with staff and community.

Required Certifications & Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in climate change or environmental management or a related discipline, with work skills or knowledge and skills gained through on-the job-training.
  • Current driver’s licence is preferred.
