The Cabinetmakers at MS LIM CONSTRUCTION GROUP PTY LTD are responsible for designing and creating cabinetry from a variety of materials including wood, laminate and other synthetic materials to constructing cabinets to meet the clients’ requirements. The Cabinetmakers will encompass operation of woodworking machines, use of hand tools, prepare measurements of residential and commercial buildings interior space, and the ability to read and understand shop drawings.
Salary offered is $73,150pa plus super.
Job Responsibilities
The Cabinetmaker will be responsible for the following tasks:
• Examining drawings and blueprints and sample parts to determine specifications and to verify measurements and dimensions
• Use drawings and verified measurements to cut and shape wood and synthetic materials in order to create custom components of cabinets
• Carefully selecting work materials such as MPF board, solid timber, aluminium, vaneer, laminate, glass, fabric, and metals
• Gathering the elements of each cabinet and assembling/installing the final products using panels, hinges and joints
• Fitting appropriate hardware such as hinges, locks and catches
• Applying sealant, varnish, and paint to cabinets, if required.
• Inspecting each completed item to ensure that it has been constructed accurately as per the blueprints, and that the necessary finishes have been applied.
• Repairing and refurbishing furniture/cabinets if required
• Ensuring all equipment and work areas are cleaned and maintained to allow for a safe working environment in accordance with safety policies and procedures
• Proactively communicate job site conditions and concerns that may or are affecting completion of the jobs
Qualifications
• Certificate III in Cabinetmaking or Certificate IV in Furniture Making and Technology
Skills/Experience
• At least 2 years of relevant working experience in cabinetmaking
• Attention to details with an ability to read and interpret blueprints/shop drawings
• Proven ability to measure, cut and shape wood, plastic and other materials and install the frameworks and structures
• Demonstrated ability to design schematics and preparing accurate quotes
• Experience with multiple types of finish including stain, paint and varnish
• Driver’s licence
