We are offering this opportunity to students currently enrolled at university, either undergraduate or postgraduate, in or approaching their final year of studies in an Environmental discipline.
As a summer intern at Hume City Council, you will work on a wide range of projects that will help Council adapt to climate change and help shape climate action approaches.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting the development and implementation of climate adaptation and embedded emissions reduction projects through research and completion of identified tasks.
- Developing staff education materials and presentations to support organisation wide implementation of climate adaptive approaches.
- Researching and preparing reports on issues relating to a sustainable environment and making recommendations for further work, particularly with relation to climate change adaptation.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- Knowledge, experience and interest in environmental issues, particularly climate adaptation and sustainable procurement in relation to embedded emissions.
- The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form, with a broad range of stakeholders.
- The ability to undertake assigned tasks including research and investigations to a high standard
- Data analysis and evaluation skills
- An understanding of sustainability and environmental issues
- Liaise and develop cooperative working relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate effective outcomes.
