Role Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Safety Officer to join our client's team. Reporting to the Safety, Quality & Sustainability Manager, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing the company's Safety 1st culture. This position will involve guiding key stakeholders locally and globally to ensure safety remains a top priority.
Key Responsibilities:
Spend significant time engaging with the workforce to educate them on their rights and obligations under relevant safety legislation, and foster participation in the Safety 1st culture.
Develop and implement health and safety plans in line with internal and external policies and guidelines.
Support compliance with safety management systems.
Facilitate training on health and safety matters and accident prevention.
Conduct regular worksite observational risk assessments and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Investigate accidents or incidents to determine causes and recommend measures to prevent recurrence.
Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics.
Perform safety audits in accordance with safety management systems.
Mandatory Skills and Experience:
Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role with a focus on incident investigation.
Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS).
Desirable Skills and Experience:
Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.
Experience in a blue-collar and union environment.
Proven background in developing documentation, policies, procedures, SOPs, and training materials.
