Who we are The Environmental Permitting and Compliance Division undertakes regulatory enforcement functions for the department across all its regulatory jurisdictions. The Compliance and Enforcement Branch conducts civil and criminal investigations, collects and analyses environmental intelligence, monitors compliance with environmental approvals, and engages with the community we regulate. The Compliance Section engages with internal and external stakeholders to detect, deter and deal with non-compliance with national environmental law. Regulatory responses range from education and preventative measures through to civil litigation and criminal prosecution. We do compliance on various national environment legislation including Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act , the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Act and the Recycling and Waste
