Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service is a not-for-profit organisation providing world class aeromedical, search and rescue services to those in need 24/7. About the position

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced safety professional to join our high performing senior leadership team. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role will lead, manage and promote Aviation Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) strategies, systems and activities to ensure that the Service meets its strategic priorities, and legislative, regulatory and customer contractual requirements. Based in Broadmeadow NSW, this role will provide operational support through regular travel to the Service’s three operational bases. To be eligible for this role, the successful candidate must be willing to reside within the Hunter Region.

Key Responsibilities of the role include:

- Hold the roles of CASR Part 145 Quality and Safety, CASR Part 42 Quality, CASR Part 119/138 Regulatory Safety/Quality and CASR Part 99 DAMP Contact Officer.
- Act as the Responsible Manager for Coordination and Audit of AS/NZS ISO 45001,14001 and ISO 9001 Certification.
- Develop, implement and report on SHEQ strategy.
- Provide high level SHEQ advice and assistance to the board, leadership team and staff.
- Utilise advanced strategic thinking and industry engagement to ensure SHEQ policy and practice remains commensurate with industry changes and compliant with regulatory obligations.
- Manage all aspects of the organisation’s safety management system (SMS).
- Assume the role of Quality Manager, upholding quality standards in accordance with industry best practice and organisational procedures.
- Lead and advocate for organisational environmental initiatives.
- Develop, monitor and manage departmental budget forecasts and expenditure.
- Effectively lead a high performing SHEQ team.

About you

To be considered for this role, you will be a passionate safety leader with tertiary qualification in a Risk Management, Quality, Audit or Safety related field. You will have demonstrated success in an aviation safety role, together with knowledge of SMS/QMS principles, accident & incident investigation, auditing, hazard identification and risk management, human factors and root cause analysis.

You will be a collaborative leader with a high level of personal accountability and demonstrated growth mindset. Passionate about purpose, you will draw upon your business and commercial acumen and advanced relationship management skills to support the achievement of key strategic objectives.
