Goz City is a popular Turkish restaurant that pays humble tribute to the Turkish stuffed pastry that is gözleme. It specialises in made-to-order gözleme, there are four core varieties: cheese and spinach, minced meat, herbed chicken, and mushroom and vegetables.
They are currently looking for an experienced Chef to join their team in Melbourne.
The Role
You will have the opportunity to work in a truly dynamic team and you will have the chance to display your creativity in the dishes that you create. You will also have the opportunity to progress through the ranks at the business.
This is a full time role with an annual salary set at $75,000 plus superannuation.
The Responsibilities
Your tasks will consist of:
Prepare and cook dishes ordered by customers.
Assist in creating rosters, menu planning, and developing standard operating procedures.
Oversee daily food preparation to meet service requirements.
Order food supplies from vendors.
Monitor costs, focusing on portion control, waste minimization, and stock management.
Conduct quality checks on food supplies to ensure freshness and quality.
Enforce hygiene regulations and safe work practices, including knowledge of allergen-restricted foods.
Ensure all dishes are cooked according to specifications.
Discuss food preparation issues with managers and restaurant staff.
Utilize various skills and techniques in cooking the restaurant's dishes.
Maintain safety and hygiene standards in the kitchen at all times.
Recruit and train kitchen staff.
Innovate and create new recipes to keep the menu fresh and exciting.
Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of fresh ingredients.
Manage kitchen inventory and equipment maintenance.
Handle customer feedback and make necessary adjustments to improve food quality and service.
The Requirements:
To be considered for the position you must meet the following requirements:
At least Certificate 4 qualifications in cookery
Strong food knowledge and skills in Turkish cuisine and cooking
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
Minimum 2 years of experience in Turkish Cuisine is highly desirable
Passion for great food and presentation
Understanding of, and commitment to, food safety
Experience in kitchen operations and in managing a team
Experience in training kitchen staff
Ability to work well under pressure
Goods ordering and menu costing
Stock control and wastage minimization
Able to work to a flexible roster includes weekends
