About the role

Ability Action Australia are excited to expand our services to include Early Childhood Intervention under the Key Worker Model within the Gold Coast area! We are seeking a passionate and experienced early childhood professional to join our team to provide therapy and support to the child and family in a community-based setting.

No two days will be the same! You will liaise and coordinate therapy from various disciplines, whilst remaining the main point of contact for the family. Some of your duties as a Key Worker will include:

  • Working closely with families and children to develop and deliver therapy in diverse settings. These settings may include the family home, school, playgrounds, day care centres etc
  • Offering evidence-based support to help children achieve their developmental goals in various areas, including communication, play, mobility, feeding, self-care, sensory processing, peer relationships, emotions and behaviours, problem-solving, and learning
  • Coordinating necessary support from various disciplines (OT/SP/Physio etc), which might involve a brief consultation with another therapist, a collaborative visit with a clinician, a focused therapy session with an expert in a particular area, or referring to another department for ongoing assistance
  • Working closely with the family who are supporting the child to develop capacity building strategies
  • Supporting the inclusion and participation of the child/ren within their families and also the community

You will work alongside a dynamic allied health team which consists of Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Physio's, Psychologists and Behaviour Support Practitioners. We love working in our community and making a difference in the lives of our participants.
