Must have:

Hardships / Financial Assistance Experience (ideally in retail - mortgages)
Sound knowledge and demonstrated understanding of litigation, legal recoveries process, Repossession process, Statutory Notices, Bankruptcy and Deceased Estate.
Ability to manage complex matters, escalations and quality assurance to ensure all collections activities adhere to applicable legislative requirements and Bank policies.
Compliant with legislative obligations and current ASIC Debt Collections Guidelines, NCCP, Privacy Act, APRA APS 220 and COBCOP as well as IDR and EDR processes.

Your new role
As a Litigation and Financial Hardship Specialist you will focus on managing the day-to-day complex matters including quality assurance and external stakeholder SLA's. This will involve assisting the team with complex matters and ensuring compliance with various legislative requirements and ensuring compliance FAARM and the organisation's policies.
This role will engage with Line 2 to ensure that FAARM is compliant with our Legislative obligations and industry standards. The Legal & Recoveries Assistant Manager will have a sound knowledge of Legal recoveries process, Repossession process, Statutory Notices, Bankruptcy,Deceased Estate, IDR & EDR processes.
Some of your responsibilities will include:

Conduct robust hindsight review of member accounts and credit profile on lending exposure as and when directed.
Preparation of business case to FAARM Manager recommending enforcement action and ensure that it is cost effective.
Identify potential risks related to legal and recovery matters.
Ability to discuss complex and sensitive information with customers which have been referred by the FAARM team or internal stakeholders.
Must have a detailed level understanding of Credit Assessment and Analysis of financials in order to conduct a hindsight review of customer exposure.
Quality assurance review to ensure all collections activities adhere to applicable legislative requirements and the Bank's policies.
Have sound knowledge and understanding of the IDR and EDR process. Work closely with IDR to provide background and documentation. If required by IDR team attend mediation meetings on behalf of the Bank
Prepare and submit regular reports on collections and recovery activities.
Maintain accurate and current documentation on accounts and engagement activity.
Customer first approach considering how actions and solutions may affect them.

Your skills and experience

Ideally you a minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role in a financial institution
Strong credit assessment competency and solid understanding of responsible lending practices.
Proven experience in legal recoveries and quality assurance within banking industry
Sound knowledge and demonstrated understanding of current ASIC Debt Collections Guidelines, NCCP, Privacy Act, APRA APS 220, COBCOP, IDR and EDR processes.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of consumer lending including but not limited to home loans, line of credit, credit card,personal loan, overdraft lending and transactional savings accounts.
You are customer focused and are dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to show empathy and build rapport.
