Midtown Pet Centre is a small, family run business on the Gold Coast, offering a high standard of accommodation and care for dogs and cats.
Each Pet that lodges at our luxury Pet Resort on the Gold Coast receives their very own climate-controlled room, ensuring that they remain cool and comfortable on a hot summer’s day and warm and cosy on a frosty winter’s night. Additionally, each guest room is furnished with clean, comfortable, non-allergenic bedding, an assortment of toys, and bowls containing purified water.
We are looking for a full time Animal Welfare Attendant to join our team. The Animal Welfare Attendant is required for the overall care of all our pet guests. This is a full time role and the main duties and responsibilities of the position will include (but not limited to):
• Maintaining health care of our pet guests by providing basic first aid and treatment and/or reporting serious conditions to Veterinarians as required.
• Health checks, administration of medication if required and maintaining animal records.
• Monitoring and caring for sick, quarantined and injured animals for unusual physical and behavioural signs.
• Undertaking / ensuring animal hygiene and wellness.
• Ensure the highest standard for our pet guests physical and emotional welfare needs are met through a variety of exercise, handling and personal attention as required.
• Oversee and participate in the preparation and cleaning, disinfecting and maintaining comfortable enclosures for all pets.
• Develop and recommend changes to our policies, guidelines and standard operating procedures.
• Oversee and participate in feeding, hydro bathing/grooming, training and caring for all our pet guests.
Attributes:
• Must have minimum Certificate AQF Certificate III as well as a minimum of at least two years of relevant experience as an absolute minimum.
• Must be mentally and physically strong (you will cover 20,000 steps on busy days).
• Must have the ability to plan and deliver set tasks efficiently and on time.
• Must be confident and competent handling pets.
• Must be available weekends and school holidays.
• Must be able to work autonomously and multitask in a sometimes pressured environment.
• Have a current Driver’s Licence and your own vehicle.
• Role requires a highly motivated self-starter, must hold all the listed skills above at a high standard, must enjoy life with our pet guests and be fully committed to it.
Salary: $73,000 to $76,000 p.a. plus super per year for the right applicant.
