Chef with Italian cuisine experience wanted to join our team
We are looking for a Chef with Italian cuisine experience. The selected person must have proven experience in delivering Italian cuisine including pasta, hand stretched wood fired pizzas and other courses. Experience in team leadership, all aspects of menu design, food preparation and execution is highly regarded.
In this role you will need to being flexible to work in different stations in the kitchen to ensure successful delivery to our customers.
Our ideal candidate has high volume dining experience, thrives in a busy kitchen environment and working as part of a team.
Key responsibilities:
• Responsibility for daily operations in the kitchen under Head Chef supervision
• Oversee pizza section as well as working in main kitchen
• Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities
• Producing menus and new dishes in keeping with Italian cuisine
• Interacting with customer due to open kitchen environment
• Overall management of food stocks, costs and staff requirements to meet demands
• Liaising with purchasing companies for food orders
• Analyze recipes to assign prices to menu items, based on food
• Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
• Rectify arising problems or complaints
• Give prepared plates the “final touch”
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
• Flexibility to work in different roles in the kitchen and food preparation
Key Skills and Experience
• Minimum 3 years experience working in professional kitchens serving Italian cuisine and working in Italy
• Cooking skills specialising in Italian cuisine including pasta, antipasto, mains and dessert
• Hand stretched and wood fired pizza experience
• An understanding of produce and ingredients
• The ability to contribute to menus that are both creative and profitable
• Record of kitchen, stock and staff management
• Capable of delegating multiple tasks
• Ability to manage a budget
• Passion for authentic Italian cuisine
• Ability to ensure high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the restaurant area
• Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)
• Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
• Keep up with cooking trends and best practices
