One of our clients, Crust Bakery, is looking for an experienced Cafe or Restaurant Manager. Located in Fyshwick, ACT, Crust Bakery has been a staple at the Fyshwick Markets since 2010. Under the ownership of Ignace Diompy since late 2021, the bakery is renowned for its exceptional service and culinary excellence.

Ignace completed his pastry chef qualification in Strasbourg, where he grew up, and has been incorporating his French experience into the delicious baked goods offered by Crust. A significant achievement under his leadership has been expanding the range of sourdough bread to 14 different flavors, including Soy and Linseed, Jalapeño and Cheddar, and Sultana & Fig. Crust Bakery also offers beautiful petit fours, pastries, baguettes, traditional meat pies, and sausage rolls.

Crust sells a French-influenced range of pastries that caters to various needs and seasons. Alongside their baked delicacies, patrons can enjoy barista-brewed coffee from one of Canberra’s best roasters, ONA Coffee. Although Crust can get quite busy, the staff always strive to serve customers quickly with a smile and are happy to answer any questions. Additionally, Crust supports APOD and veteran cardholders with a 10% discount on all breads and pastries.

The details of the position are as follows:

Position: Cafe or Restaurant Manager

Salary: $73,000 - $80,000 plus superannuation

Location: Fyshwick, ACT 2609

Job Type: Permanent position, Full-time. Must be available to work on weekends and public holidays.

Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Overseeing daily operations to ensure smooth and efficient service.

• Managing staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.

• Developing and implementing marketing strategies to attract and retain customers.

• Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

• Monitoring financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.

• Maintaining high standards of food quality and customer service.

To be considered for this role, your key skills and attributes must include:

• Possessing appropriate qualifications with a minimum of two years of professional experience.

• Holding a Diploma or higher qualification in Hospitality Management or a related field.

• Demonstrating strong leadership and organisational skills.

• Exhibiting excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Skilled in financial management and cost control.

• Must possess unrestricted working rights in Australia.
