Mighty Build and Test, A Keywords Studio, are currently recruiting for a Game Console Hardware Tech to work with a growing team of enthusiastic and collaborative game developers. The Mighty Build and Test specialist team works with various game studios to deliver automation solutions to development challenges. Our automated tools assist in providing CI/CD services to accelerate development and QA testing across multiple platforms and systems. 

The Game Console Hardware Technician is a Jr. level IT position that supports and works alongside a team of Game Software Engineers. They support the team by managing the test lab, inventory and project allocations, and computer equipment. This position will be responsible for maintaining software and hardware stability and collaborating with DevOps Engineers and IT teams to resolve larger challenges. The Lab Technician will work closely with Engineering and Production Leads to continue to improve and innovate on current best practices. While at Mighty Build and Test, you can expect to: 

Work with a growing, global team in a supportive environment, where you will be working to support new and exciting technologies for a wide variety of companies and games. 

Work with consumer-grade gaming hardware, as well as development machines and servers, with a roadmap to high-density computing and virtualisation. 

Collaborate with an Australian IT team, which spans five Australian games studios, and manage interactions with international IT teams within other Keywords and non-Keywords studios. 

Work from our studio in the heart of Fitzroy, Melbourne.  This role is Full Time On-site

 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

The responsibilities of the Lab Tech at Mighty Build and Test can be broken down into the following core areas: 

Core Responsibilities 

  • Monitor and maintain automated testing systems to ensure uptime, and data collection functionality. 
  • Inventory management of headless computers, servers, game consoles and mobile devices  
  • Prepare PCs and consoles for test deployment by installing required tools and refresh machines between deployments 
  • Collaborate with IT teams to configure recently procured hardware, and resolve basic hardware, cabling and software issues with support. 
  • Work with IT and DevOps to conduct changes to studio systems, including networking updates, software rollouts and other deliveries. 
  • Keep up to date with developments in computer and console hardware, maintaining a familiarity with devices and usage. 
  • Support Keyword clients by quickly reacting to support requests from client-facing teams. 
  • Support side projects requested by department leads, which contribute to Keyword’s global success 

General 

  • Providing general assistance, guidance and support to all areas of the business by; 
  • Attending Team Weekly Ops and Individual Performance Meetings 
  • Keeping abreast of daily/ weekly departmental priorities 
  • Documenting work and using internal ticketing tools 
  • Assisting with staff training if required 
  • Collaborate with KWS Australia IT team to solve infrastructure automation challenges 
  • Additional responsibilities may be added at a later date in consultation with your manager. 


REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Working experience in an IT, Computer Science or Engineering field 
  • Working transportation and ability to perform planned maintenance duties outside of business hours when required (infrequent). 
  • Solid knowledge of computer hardware, system configuration and assembly. 
  • Solid knowledge of Windows and MacOS desktop environments.  
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience of software and hardware. 
  • Able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information. 


DESIRABLE SKILLS 

  • Very high attention to detail to drive and execute coordinating procedure and processes with maximum precision 
  • Ability to be fast and effective to quickly meet deadlines and requests 
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities 
  • Desire to drive and improve Departmental Processes to help continually evolve and improve systems and frameworks 
  • Bonus if the candidate has basic experience in game development or in-depth understanding of game development practices
