What you'll be doing
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Counsellor to join our Prompt Response Program. In this role, you will provide trauma-informed counselling and therapeutic consultation services to individuals, couples, and families. You will work both onsite and via telehealth to ensure accessibility and flexibility for our clients.
Your Day To Day:
- Therapeutic Services: Provide trauma-informed counselling to individuals, couples, and families, ensuring services are accessible both onsite and via telehealth.
- Comprehensive Screening: Conduct screenings for family violence (MARAM), mental health concerns, and substance use issues, providing referral pathways as needed.
- Risk Assessment: Undertake child-focused continuous risk assessment and safety planning.
- Goal-Oriented Plans: Support clients in identifying goals, developing interventions, and therapeutic plans suitable for a 6-session model.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Deliver services that are culturally sensitive to minority groups, including Indigenous, CALD, and LGBTIQ+ communities.
- Casework Support: Ensure appropriate casework support, including follow-up referrals and advocacy, to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
- Client Intake: Participate in the intake and initial assessment of clients entering the counselling/casework program.
- Service Development: Contribute to the ongoing review and development of counselling/casework services, ensuring alignment with best practices.
- Community Engagement: Develop and facilitate health and well-being sessions and other group work activities in the community including network meetings and events to promote the program.
- Collaboration: Maintain close links with other health and community agencies for referral and collaborative service provision.
- Team Participation: Actively participate in the multi-disciplinary team, attending meetings, supervision, and providing management reports as required.
- Compliance: Ensure case file documentation and shared information comply with EACH's Client Record Management Systems Policies and Procedures.
- Quality and Innovation: Contribute to a culture of quality and innovation, aligning with EACH’s quality improvement and accreditation systems.
- Reporting: Meet targets as per agreements with Local Council and participate in reporting requirements.
- Customer Satisfaction: Obtain and review client feedback to ensure high satisfaction levels.
- Prompt Report Participation: Contribute to the annual Prompt Report as required by the council.
Who You Are
- Trauma-Informed Counselling: Experience providing trauma-informed counselling for issues such as mental health, family violence, substance use, family issues, and life stressors.
- Psycho-Social Interventions: Experience in providing assessments and a full range of psycho-social interventions.
- Community Health: Sound professional knowledge of community health service provision and commitment to a social model of health.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team and contribute to service and team development.
- Customer Focus: Commitment to customer focus, innovation, continuous improvement, flexibility, and openness.
