The Opportunity
Come and discover the opportunity to join our Welded Products team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a Team Leader. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
The Welded Products Plant produces welded beams and columns, narrow plates and billets to a variety of customers. This role will see you play a pivotal role in fostering a “safety first” culture by demonstrating felt leadership and enabling team members to build capacity within the team. You will be a key driver in ensuring adherence to our quality systems to ensure all product is manufactured to Australian Standards and is delivered to our customers on time.
As the leader of a relatively new workforce, you will be expected to develop and ensure adherence to standard practices and behaviours. You will provide clear priorities for your team to meet both short and long term objectives.
By providing sound training systems and fostering a respectful work environment you will play an integral role in developing our people and providing a great experience for our customers.

What Will You Do?
You will demonstrate your leadership skills and be responsible for:
- leading the shift operations team to achieve business targets and ensure adherence to safety, quality and operational standards
- supervise and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity and customer experience.
- grow and mentor your team to develop and enhance their capability.
- be the conduit between the Hot Mills management team and the shop floor where the work is actually getting done.

With your leadership experience, you’ll have the ability to make calculated decisions while working in a fast-paced environment. You will also have:
- a safety-first mind-set, championing the care and wellbeing of yourself and others
- experience leading and developing a team
- developed communication, with an ability to influence peers and colleagues to meet operational requirements, scheduling and people demands
- enthusiasm and initiative while working with competing priorities
- demonstrated ability to use pragmatic thinking to problem solve
- relevant trade, engineering or science qualifications are desired.
