Shop Neutral is a sustainable eco-store seeking a retail buyer for our retail location in Prahran Market. This is a year round full-time position with overtime required during our peak Christmas and tourist season. Weekend work is required year round and especially during peak season, with some flexibility to be enjoyed during non-peak season.
Key Responsibilities
· Select merchandise and develop product assortments to grow the business and increase market share.
· Responsible for achieving sales, margin and inventory plans.
· Maintain a healthy inventory for year-round sales.
· Research current trends in merchandise and social media and follow through with sourcing and purchasing of trending merchandise as to make sure store is on leading edge of current sales trends
· Determine product assortment, deliver the sales, margin, inventory and promotional strategies.
· Work closely with the marketing team to develop and implement an overall sales strategy for in store and online.
· Lead change and bring in new ideas, designs and strategies for growth.
· Identify growth opportunities and develop contingency plans.
· Organise merchandising structure of the retail store.
· Build and maintain strong vendor relations and put together solid business plans.
· Source, evaluate and negotiate prices per product.
· Assist in the coaching of part time associates on customer service and sales, restocking and more.
· Work with and lead the receiving team to onboard merchandise and proper floor displays.
· Leads team to maintain store website.
Other Duties as Needed/Requested
· Willingness to lend opinion, support, ideas & assistance to retail location.
· Perform daily duties when called upon including restocking, merchandise transfers, receiving shipment, remerchandising, and customer service, opening and closing the register.
· Other duties as called upon and that naturally arise as position evolves.
Qualifications
· Candidate must have at least 5+ years experience in retail sales and visual merchandising, with a background of 3+ years as a retail buyer or similar role.
· Candidate must be highly organized, and able to multi-task
· Must be able to lead a team and give direction.
· Understanding profit margin and a strong willingness to increase company bottom line.
· Knowledge of Shopify, on-line sales and social media platforms strongly preferred.
· Ability to analyze sales reports to drive markdowns and re-merchandising.
· This position must be able to adapt to the ever-changing work environment of a growing company.
