About the role
Our team is growing! We are looking for a number of passionate team members to support the day to day operations of our kitchens and deliver service at events. This role will primarily work out of our Elsternwick kitchen, however may also be required to service our Northside venues from time to time. This role is required to work on a rotating roster that includes week days, nights, weekends and public holidays. Sponsorship is available, however the candidate must already be in Australia to apply. Some of the responsibilities include:
Menu planning
Estimating food and labour costs
Liaising with suppliers
Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
Freezing and preserving foods
Hygiene and food safety of the highest level in accordance with food safety guidelines, policies and procedures.
The salary range for this role is between $70,000 - $80,000 + super, depending on experience.
Skills, experience & requirements/qualifications
3+ years of relevant experience as a Chef
Ability to lead teams as the Chef in Charge onsite at a wedding or event
Passionate about catering and producing quality food
Show sound cookery techniques and the ability to learn new ones
Works well under pressure
Positive, punctual and professional approach
Attention to detail
Happy to work hard & get your hands dirty when needed
Ability to work as a part of a team with excellent communication skills
You must be fully vaccinated (with two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine) or have a genuine medical exemption
Competency in ordering and managing stock
Valid Victorian Drivers licence and be comfortable to drive a van or small truck
Some manual handling required to unload food from trucks/vans
Availability to work a rotating roster that includes week days, nights, weekends and public holidays (essential)
Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (essential)
Food Safety trained (desired)
Certificate or Diploma in event/hotel management (desired)
