Worldly Migration Established in 2012, South of Johnston Café has become an art laden local all-day dining 60-seater hub in Collingwood offering a seasonal and quality focused menu, with works on walls being collected from local galleries and artists and serves well priced food and beverages, that use local products as much as possible. South of Johnston believes in quality, generosity, sustainability and even community assistance.  We are seeking a full time Chef with the right attitude and passion for working with food with at least 2 years of relevant experience and a minimum of a Diploma qualification or equivalent in substantial experience. Salary of $70,000 - $75,000 + super for this full-time position.  As the Chef, you will undergo the following responsibilities and tasks. Responsibilities:  Menu planning (including seasonal menu planning) and estimating food and labour costs Order food supplies Examine the food and supplies to ensure quality Prepare and cook food as per menu and recipes Store correctly labelled food in temperature-controlled facilities Estimate food requirements Hire, train and manage all kitchen staff, including employee development, issuing disciplinary action and conducting performance reviews.  Lead the other kitchen staff to create creative and diverse menu options.  Prepared food items to meet recipes, portioning, dietary requirements, cooking and waste control guidelines. Assist to manage the kitchen staff and delegate tasks related to meal prep, cooking and delivering food to diners in a timely fashion Follow and enforce workplace health & safety regulations, implement and be a leader of hygiene policies and examining equipment for cleanliness When required – interact with customers to answer their questions   Qualifications: Minimum of a Diploma qualification or equivalent in substantial experience.   Experience Requirement: At least 2 years of experience in highly relevant role required.  Experience with Modern Australian cuisine.     Essential Skills: Must be available to work on weekends We are looking for someone who has Strong product knowledge, a good understanding of seasonality and local food trends Experience managing staff and stock control Has the ability to cook consistently and maintain a consistent level under pressure The applicant should have excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within our team   Apply: If you satisfy the above please apply without hesitation outlining why you are suitable.  Applications will be accepted for 4 weeks from the date of advert posting.  Please note only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
