We require up to 10 staff for Slaughter Person positions in abattoirs in the Tablelands Region, Queensland.
Job description:
Kill Floor
• General Labouring
• Handle livestock humanly which includes stunning, bleeding, removing skin, legging, breasting, hide pulling, eviscerating, splitting and trimming carcasses
• Trim, wash, and weigh carcasses
• Clean and sanitise plant and equipment.
Boning Room
• Packer
• Knife hand
• Boner
• Slicer
General/Site Maintenance
• Mowing site/carparks
• Cleaning cold rooms
• Scrubbing walls
• Hosing Yards
• Feeding Cattle
Positions commence late November 2024 to early February 2025 for a period of 12 months. There is a possibility that the position may be ongoing after this time.
Successful applicants will work a minimum of 38 hours per week and will be paid as a Level 1 full time employee under the Meat Industry Award 2020, plus superannuation and all applicable entitlements.
Applications must address the below selection criteria and all claims against the selection criteria must be substantiated. Any application that fails to do so will not be considered.
Selection Criteria:
* Must be strong and physically fit, able to lift up to 20kg
* Must not be colour blind
* Must be able to follow safe food handling, packaging and processing standards of hygiene.
* A good level of dexterity with an ability to acquire good speeds safely with knives.
* Ability to carry heavy loads
* Ability to follow instructions and learn and apply new processes quickly.
To be successful applicants must:
• have work rights in Australia
• be willing to start work at 4am
• possess a valid driver’s licence
• have their own means of transportation
• have been Q fever vaccinated or willing to have Q fever vaccination
• be willing to work shift work - 4.00am to 12.00pm, 5.00am to 1.00pm. 7.00am to 3.00pm and any day of the week, weekends included
