A full-time opportunity has become available for a Dairy Cattle Farmer to join our 400 cow family operation located at Noorat, in South West Victoria.
Employment Specifics
As you will be working under the direction of the owner, the successful applicant must have:
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the industry
• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Agriculture or equivalent
• A good understanding of the overall processes involved in a dairy farm
• Genuine interest in the dairy industry
• Enjoys working with cows in an outdoor environment
• Ability to work with the owner and other staff members
• Ability to work independently and without supervision
• Excellent work and communication skills with attention to detail
• A current driver’s license and own reliable transport
• Experience with irrigation preferred, but not required,
Duties will include, but not limited to:
• Operate 55 rotary milking plant and equipment in a safe manner
• Operate and maintain farm equipment (e.g., quad bikes, tractors)
• Manage herd during milking to ensure herd health and mastitis control
• Carry out calf rearing program including feeding, illness recognition and treatment, tagging and drenching
• Solve problems and make decisions within given guidelines
• Operate computerised systems
• Contribute to the team in a specific role, providing input and assisting other team members
• Prepare and apply chemicals as required
We offer:
• Immediate/flexible start date
• Salary of $75k per annum plus superannuation
• 45-50 hours per week, flexible roster.
• Four weeks annual leave
• Accommodation on the property in a comfortable 3bedroom, brick home.for minimal rent
