Proactively develop and deliver Council’s external digital and social communications activities to raise awareness of Council services, programs, projects, initiatives and events.
What you’ll be doing:
- Support the development and delivery of an annual content plan to raise awareness and inform our community about Council services, programs, projects, initiatives and events.
- Research, develop, implement and evaluate online and digital communication campaigns to positively promote the City, Council and its services, facilities, events and activities.
- Support the implementation of a results-driven social media strategy, to raise awareness, connect and engage with our community about Council services, programs, projects, initiatives and events.
- Advise on the most appropriate social content to enhance engagement on posts to promote and inform the community about Council services, programs, projects, initiatives and events.
- Maintain Council’s website content and assist in the coordination of its management.
- Help innovate and evolve Council’s websites, ensuring good governance, functionality, search and appropriate and targeted content.
- Provide high-level communications advice for senior decision-makers on key issues, policy matters and implementation priorities to support Council objectives.
- Provide sound advice and thought leadership to the Coordinator, Digital, Brand and Publishing and Manager, Strategic Communications on a range of issues.
- Support the strategic review of Council’s communications tools and recommend and implement changes to ensure that they are engaging, innovative, targeted, appropriate and cost-effective.
- Help monitor and audit Council’s digital communications to ensure consistency with Council’s brand and corporate identity and align with its values.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- Ability to gain cooperation and assistance from people with diverse backgrounds and cultures, both within and external to the organisation, to achieve the objectives of this position.
- Ability to communicate effectively and consult in a socially and politically sensitive environment.
- Ability to plan, research, develop, implement and evaluate communications strategies.
- Specialist written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to write in a clear, concise and understandable manner as appropriate for multiple formats including online and digital communication and social media.
- Proficiency in project managing the production of customer communication materials in a corporate environment for a wide range of audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines to a high standard of accuracy and consistency.
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications and/or extensive demonstrated experience in communications, public relations or marketing or a similar field.
- A current driver’s licence.
