POSITION: Senior Mining Engineers – Open Pit
WORK LOCATION: These opportunities will be available across our Yandal production hubs – Thunderbox and Bronzewing operations.
ROSTER: 8 days on, 6 days off – FIFO ex Perth OR Busselton
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Review engineering designs and planning to ensure that all necessary safety requirements are met.
Develop, deliver and manage the execution of rolling monthly and weekly mine plans which are all validated as capable of execution.
Review execution Drill and Blast designs against the pit design and with respect to slope stability, ore recovery and blast movement.
Optimise pit designs, dump designs and bench plans in line with the Northern Star’s standards to ensure safe and efficient recovery of ore.
Communicate current performance against operational targets, including collection and compiling monthly and weekly reports.
Contribute to the development and review of resource allocations and budgets (people and equipment) to ensure they reflect the business drivers and intent.
As required, fulfil all legislative duties and responsibilities to comply with the requirements of an Alternate Quarry Manager.
TO THRIVE IN THIS ROLE:
YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
Experience with contract mining environments and a variety of commodities, styles of mineralisation and scales and application of mining.
Unrestricted Quarry Managers certificate – highly regarded.
5+ years experience in the mining industry, preferably in mechanised hard rock operations.
Competence with mining software packages e.g. Deswik.
Good leadership and communication skills across all levels of business.
Good analytical skills and high level planning knowledge.
A thorough understanding of the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations.
“C” class Western Australian Drivers Licence.
