The Role
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Instrument & Electrical Reliability Engineer to support the PKET (Port Kembla Energy Terminal) and firming assets operations and engineering team in maintaining safe and efficient operations. Reporting to the Terminal & Firming Asset & Maintenance Manager, this role will provide Instrumentation & Electrical engineering expertise while fostering a fundamental process understanding throughout the team. You will also be responsible for the development and ownership of reliability management systems and processes for the PKET facility.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Instrumentation & Electrical engineering expertise and offer SME advice on the Instrumentation & Electrical aspects of PKET operations.
- Deliver guidance and direction to PLC and SCADA support service providers.
- Develop and champion reliability improvement plans and establish an ongoing process for reliability engineering and root cause analysis.
- Champion asset/equipment condition monitoring and develop procedures to ensure adherence to designed safe operating envelopes and environmental licenses.
- Ensure compliance with relevant processes and standards, statutory legislation, risk controls, and industry, Australian, or government standards.
- Engage with key operational partners to maintain end-to-end process understanding in Instrumentation & Electrical safety and plant optimization.
- Assist the Process Engineer in providing guidance to PLC and SCADA support service providers.
- Assist with the development of maintenance strategies for new equipment and provide SME advice during the development of risk-assessed maintenance activities.
- Provide technical assurance and insight during the development and review of operational procedures, HAZIDs, and HAZOPs, and serve as the SME owner of hardware barrier integrity.
- Own key KPIs and reporting for the PKET facility, and actively support the asset whole-of-life costing model work.
- 10 years of experience as an Instrumentation & Electrical Engineer within the process industry, preferably in oil and gas or chemicals.
- Experience with a Major Hazard Facility.
- Fundamental process safety training/knowledge.
- Cybersecurity acumen and competency.
- Experience with electrical switching and high voltage electrical equipment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Competent with Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to work within a team and develop/coach others.
- Ability to conduct complex data analysis and calculations with a high level of accuracy.
- Experience in contractor management.
- Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering degree.
- Process Safety Training.
- Able to obtain and maintain an MSIC card.
