Job Description: Dentist
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide comprehensive dental care to our patients. Your role involves diagnosing, treating and advising patients on various dental issues. Promote and maintain good oral health for all patients, by encouraging regular check-ups and proper oral hygiene routines. Process a wide range of expertise in addressing teeth and gum problems, ranging from routine examinations and cleans to advance procedures such as dental implant placements.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before and during their appointment
- Provide high standards of general dentistry
- Examine patients’ medical records
- Prepare patients for treatment (e.g. by applying oral sedation or anaesthetic)
- Check teeth, gums and other parts of the mouth, along with X-rays and tests, to diagnose dental problems and communicate costs involved with patients
- Clean teeth and remove plaque (or refer to our dental hygienists to schedule cleaning appointments with them)
- Identify tooth decay and replace cavities with fillings
- Design and fit dental prosthetics, such as bridges, crowns and dentures
- Apply teeth-whitening treatments
- Conduct tooth extractions and root canal procedures
- Prescribe medication as needed
- Educate patients on proper brushing techniques, flossing and fluoride use
- Promote good oral health and preventive dental care (e.g. by scheduling regular check-ups and hygienist appointments)
- Communicate with dental staff on our team regarding patient treatment plans, as well as with your dental technicians
- Carefully document all medications, diagnoses, treatments and consultations for every patient
- Refer patients onto specialists if required
- Maintain documentation and charts on each patient
- To work as an individual and integral team member
- To perform and complete duties and tasks within your capabilities to the best of your ability
- To be able to communicate, assist and support team members and to expect the same assistance and support in return
