Yarrabee Coal Mine is a structurally complex truck and shovel operation that is situated on the eastern edge of the Bowen Basin deposits. The mine has been operational since the early 1980?s and has been wholly owned by Yancoal since 2009. The mine is currently undergoing major development over the next 5 years with a current Major EA amendment underway to extend the life of the operation out to 2070 (currently 2037) and the opening of 3 new mining areas.
Yarrabee is looking to increase its production over the coming 3-5 years from 3.0 mtpa ROM to 4.0 mtpa ROM which will be achieved through optimised mine design, targeting new areas of the deposit and striving for best practice productivity and efficiencies.
