About this Opportunity
We are looking for an enthusiastic Distribution Manager to join the team in Spotswood, Melbourne. The primary objectives of this role are safety, high team standards, quality service and the operational continuity of our PUD Fleet in a manner that is consistent with my clients values.
The role of the Distribution Manager is to ensure the safe and timely operations of the distribution department are conducted in a safe, efficient and profitable way. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact on our business while upholding strong values.

Some of your Key Duties

Lead, manage and oversee the safe operations of all distribution related activities to ensure safe operations are consistent with the Sadleirs safety management system and ensure legal and statutory compliance obligations are met
To manage the coordination of the pickup and delivery function including DC Bookings and Rail Bookings and lodgement.
Work with the Control Tower to achieve the national equipment network optimisation.
Drive and promote a culture of safety excellence consistent with the Sadleirs safety management system and ensure legal and statutory compliance obligations are met.
Manage the coordination of all loading and unloading of all PUD trucks at the Spotswood depot.
Manage all freight to be correctly presented for linehaul operations.
Accountability for divisional profit and loss activities including week / month end reporting and cost analysis
Lead, train, coach and mentor a diverse range of permanent, casual and sub-contractor team members including performance management and a broad range of employee relation activities

Qualifications & Experience required

Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role within the transport, rail or logistics industry
Relevant tertiary degree or equivalent (desirable)
Experience in fleet / driver management and warehousing
Diploma in a relevant field, or equivalent is desirable
Dangerous Goods Licence or certification (desirable)
Load Restraint Training
Fatigue Management Accreditation is favourable
Chain of Responsibility Accreditation is desirable


Skills and Personal Attributes

Intermediate level of commercial acumen with the ability to understand financial reports
Strong people leadership and engagement skills
Operational execution capability
Foster a culture of safety, ensuring strict adherence to all relevant regulations and legislation
Intermediate level of commercial acumen with the ability to understand financial reports
Well developed interpersonal and communication skills
Intermediate level of computer and Microsoft Office skills
High levels of personal drive and self motivation
