Federal Gov't client is seeking to identify suitable candidates to perform the role of Master Scheduler to support the agency manage, maintain and analyse integrated schedule solutions to achieve deliverables in new and existing ICT systems. Master Schedulers develop and manage integrated schedules that map and track all accountable activity across all streams of work that contribute to project and program outcomes. Through stakeholder engagement, they build detailed schedules with a meaningful critical path, capture and monitor the relationship between dependencies, deliverables and ensure target milestones are realistic, achievable, and on track.

Master Schedulers:

  • provide strategic leadership to oversee the delivery and management of quality integrated complex schedules that meet defined standards for multifaceted or large scale projects and programs that span high level portfolio, program and business plans
  • provide strategic expertise and guidance to senior executive on risks and issues affecting the scheduling and resourcing of projects, and articulate the required measures to ensure successful outcomes
  • drive collaboration, cooperation and partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders across business and at the enterprise level
  • exercise a significant degree of independence, working under the broad guidance of a senior executive
  • use expert judgement to make balanced decisions using evidence and evaluation of ambiguous information within the context of competing
  • priorities, changes in workplace practices, strategic direction, and wider agency implications
  • work flexibly to drive innovation, manage and lead change and actively contribute to implementation of strategic directions
  • may have oversight and leadership of multiple teams

Key duties may include, but are not limited to:

Master Scheduler – EL2

  • ensure the application of complex project and program information into detailed integrated schedule solutions to achieve deliverables
  • foster relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, negotiate with influence on complex scheduling matters, utilising subject matter expertise
  • manage change control to baseline schedules to ensure relevant artefacts and change logs are in place
  • oversee progress against program milestones and deliverables and be accountable for individual and shared priorities
  • perform regular impact analysis, assessment of critical path information and apply risk mitigation strategies to ensure the delivery of scheduling solutions
  • lead continuous improvement of scheduling processes, methodologies and procedures
  • prepare and present timely information to senior executives that articulate project or program delivery risks of success
  • oversee and assure the correct application of budgets and contingencies of financially complex schedules
  • initiate and support strategic approaches to build scheduling capability and expertise of others
  • oversee operations of teams, including providing a clear sense of direction, setting work priorities and managing resources
  • develop staff capability through coaching and succession planning
  • exercise appropriate delegations in accordance with legislation and guidelines.

Ability to:

  • manage, maintain and analyse schedule components including critical paths, relationships and interdependencies
  • demonstrate expertise in use of automated scheduling and reporting tools
  • identify trends and risk and implement appropriate mitigation and issue management strategies
  • align operational activity to program strategies and agency vision
  • manage and resolve complex and/or technical scheduling issues
  • oversee team development to ensure the delivery of quality outcomes
  • communicate and negotiate with influence to achieve outcomes on complex or sensitive matters
  • apply attention to detail to manage complex scheduling sequences
  • undertake objective, systematic analysis of complex information and make recommendations based on evidence
  • make decisions based on professional judgement, risk evaluation and in the context of the strategic environment
  • lead change initiatives and support staff through uncertainty and the change process.
