Overview:
We are a Precision Machining and Engineering business based in Sydney that has been in service for over 25 years. We have extensive experience in CNC and conventional machining, fabricating and modifying parts for an array of industries and applications.
We are looking for a Metal Mechinist (323214 - Metal Machinist (First Class)) to join the team! In this role, you will be responsible for the setup and operation of various machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This position is a full-time ongoing position, working 38 hours per week based in Seven Hills, NSW.
Main tasks:
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such
- as micrometers and Vernier calipers.
- Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as CNC and conventional lathes, CNC and conventional milling machines, shapers and grinders.
- Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
- Set up, adjust, and operate all basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations.
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto
- machines.
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
- Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
- Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation for machinery work.
- Layout, measure, and mark metal stock to display placement of cuts.
- Fabrication and modification of parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines.
- Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and determine the need for adjustments or repairs.
- Advise clients about the materials being used for finished products.
Required/Relevant Qualifications & Work Experience:
- Certificate III and at least a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the industry, or Certificate IV.
- At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
Required/Relevant Skills & Knowledge:
- Proficiency in operating CNC machines and other machine tools.
- Strong understanding of machining techniques and materials.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
- Experience with Siemens or Fagor controls (preferred).
