Responsible for managing Import Procurement program and members of that team. Imports from 10-12 countries each week and role are responsible for end-to-end management of this process, from procuring the flowers to them arriving in Australia ready for distribution to customers, and all steps in between.
With support from the Sales & Procurement Director, the Key Responsibilities Include:
• Manage grower relationships with key international suppliers.
• Manage weekly supply confirmations and aim for maximum fulfilment levels.
• High level of interaction with the sales team, communicating updates and issues with supply.
• Significant communication with Wafex overseas offices in Kenya & Ecuador.
• Monitor and maintain competitive supplier pricing and ensure the company is accurately charged each week.
• Maintain relationship with key oversees freight and logistics partners.
• Monitor freight costs and chargeable weights on a weekly basis as a key KPI.
• Oversee customs clearances in Australia working with our clearing agents and Wafex operations based at our airport offices.
• It’s expected this role learns the key requirements of our top 10 customers and what their expectations are. The role requires a high level of understanding of sales & customers, although not having direct communication with customers.
• Oversee and monitor vendor claims.
• Work closely with sales team on introducing new products into the market.
Qualification:
• Proven experience in import procurement and finance with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role in the floral or horticultural industry.
• • Strong knowledge of global supply chain dynamics, import regulations, and customs procedures.
• Experience developing and training staff in best practice processes.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting or finance, supply chain management, or a related field.
• Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) or project management is a plus.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with international suppliers.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe work practices
• Proven people management skills.
