Laboratory Trainee
Programmed Skilled Workforce, in partnership with Tronox, is offering an exciting opportunity for a driven and motivated Laboratory Trainee to join a global chemical and mining company, and work alongside a team of dedicated and passionate professionals. Working at Tronox, the world's largest supplier of titanium dioxide, you will be offered the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification as a Laboratory Technician (MSL40122 - Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques).
Who we are looking for: As a Laboratory Trainee at Tronox, you will have the opportunity to learn from industry professionals. Over the course of your 24-month traineeship you will acquire valuable technical experience whilst building your skills and gaining exposure within a pigment processing plant.
Tasks and responsibilities will include:
Conducting sample preparation, instrumental testing and related tasks in a quality control environment
Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment and instruments
Applying quality control principles to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulations
Collecting and interpreting data obtained from laboratory experiments and tests
Generating accurate reports
Providing technical support to operations quality control function
Skills and Experience To be successful, you will need to demonstrate a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, the ability to work both independently as well as within a team, and be willing to develop your technical skills over the 24 month training period. Applicants will ideally meet the following criteria:
Completion of Secondary Schooling (minimum)
Possess high level literacy and numeracy skills
Possess a strong commitment to safety and be able to demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of relevant workplace health and safety requirements
Ability to work a shift roster when required
Possess excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Possess a strong technical understanding and aptitude
Hold a current WA driver's license and own transport
Have the ability to meet strict deadlines and cooperate with others
Be punctual, reliable and presentable
The following would also be highly advantageous to your application;
Relevant work experience
A formal qualification in laboratory techniques
