joinery and kitchens. We currently have a position available for a Cabinetmaker
The Cabinet Maker is responsible for crafting, assembling, and installing high-quality joinery and furniture. This role requires proficiency in woodworking techniques, including cutting, shaping, and joinery methods, as well as the ability to interpret blueprints and project documentation accurately. The Cabinet Maker must operate machinery safely and efficiently, maintain tools and equipment, and ensure all work meets stringent quality standards and production deadlines. Effective communication with the Production Manager, Site Supervisor, and clients is essential, along with the ability to identify and rectify errors promptly.
Primary Responsibilities
• Liaise with the Production Manager/Site Supervisor regarding project specifics and deadlines.
• Delegate work to, monitor, supervise, and train apprentices and trainees appropriately.
• Read and interpret plans accurately.
• Safely and competently use hand tools and static machinery to manufacture and install joinery.
• Mark out, cut, and shape joinery components.
• Assemble furniture and joinery items, including the installation of hardware.
• Ensure all joinery sent to the site is complete and finished to the highest standard in accordance with project documentation.
• Install joinery defect-free, including liaising with clients and other trades as required, in accordance with project documentation.
• Adhere to alt site WHS requirements, including safe manual handling, as per the WHS Plan for the site/workshop .
• Attend site meetings as directed by the Production Manager/Site Supervisor and/or client.
• Keep the work area clean and tidy, ensuring all tools are secured at the end of each shift.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of tools.
• Ensure adherence to checklists, delivery lists, and other quality assurance systems.
• Ensure behaviour in the workshop and on site consistent with Capital Veneering standards as per policies and procedures.
• Participate in the Capital Veneering Mentoring Program.
Requirements and Attributes
• 4+ years of industry experience preferred in a similar environment
• Physically able to complete manual labour tasks as required
• Excellent communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills - fosters good relationships with clients & colleagues
• Ability to multi-task and work to a high standard
• Persistent approach to time management
• High levels of enthusiasm and good work ethics
• Forward-thinking to avoid mistakes and to report near missus
• Ability to analyse processes and ensure continuous improvement to avoid mistakes
• A Pre-Start Medical Clearance is required
Required Certification
• At least 3 Cert III in Cabinet Making or equivalent
• CPCWHS1001 Construction Industry White Card
• 11084NAT / 10675NAT Asbestos Awareness Card
• 10830NAT Crystalline Silica Exposure Prevention
• Class C Driver's Licence (manual preferred)
• First Aid certification preferred
