What's a Vehicle Body Builder?
Vehicle Body Builders fabricate and install custom bodies onto chassis of a variety of heavy vehicles. They build bodies for trucks, vans, coaches, buses, caravans, trailers, refrigerated vehicles, horse floats, fire trucks and specialised vehicles used by a multitude of interesting applications.
The Role:
We seek a Technical Engineering Manager who can drive the success of the product, making a real difference to the product and solutions we provide to our clients. This is a pivotal role which requires strong capabilities, primarily in organising and planning; we’re looking for someone with real drive to improve the production processes and the actual products, in order to create a client-centric company.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will become a real part of the family, leading real and positive changes in this rewarding role.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Managing the Master Schedule, including new and custom engineered products and repairs
Ensuring raw materials are in stock and on time, with assistance from a purchasing team
Researching new suppliers, materials and manufacturing methods
Running Lean Manufacturing workshops to ensure the process are effective/efficient and eliminating wastes; lean tools, especially continuous improvement are very important to us.
Ensuring the accuracy of the product in relation to the clients desires, PO and QC.
Ownership and development of the MRP.
R&D Engineering and subcontract for custom jobs. This is an exciting time in the transport world; product development is a key step in our growing business.
Generation and management of SWP, DFMEAs, RCA and Risk Assessments
Skills and experience
Demonstrated experience in a similar role, including experience in working within a complex manufacturing/scheduling environment;
Outstanding communication skills - written and verbal;
BEng level qualifications at least is preferred;
In depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and supplier management;
Communication and ability to work to tight deadlines will be key to our success
Familiarity with different production management techniques
