About the role:
The Financial Accountant is responsible for overseeing the accounting, financial, and payroll-related activities of the organisation. This role involves analysing the economic stability of the company and providing financial information to other departments, enabling informed budgeting and investment decisions. The Financial Accountant reports on costs, productivity, margins, and company expenditures.
Key Responsibilities:
-Preparing the monthly profit and loss, and balance sheet reports
-Creating KPI reports
-Responding to financial inquiries by gathering and interpreting data
-Preparing financial statements for presentation to directors and the board
-Examining operating costs and the organisation's income and expenditure
-Providing assurance about the accuracy of information contained in financial reports and ensuring their compliance with statutory requirements
-Providing financial and taxation advice on business structures, plans, and operations
-Maintaining internal control systems, including conducting internal audits
-Appraising cash flow and financial risk of capital investment projects
-Tax reporting and compliance
-Collecting and analysing data for the preparation of weekly and monthly estimates
-Assisting with the preparation of year-end accounts and statutory accounts
-Examining financial records for accuracy
-Driving innovation and operational excellence in financial processes
Experience and Qualifications
-Tertiary-level qualification in Accounting or equivalent
-CA/CPA qualification or currently studying towards it
-Over 5 years’ experience working in a commercial or chartered environment
-Proficiency with the MS Office suite
-Broad knowledge of construction legislation
-Strong focus on continuous improvement and automation of financial processes

-High-level communication skills, including the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders, consultants, staff, and clients
-High-level commercial awareness, including knowledge of legislation and construction industry nuances
