We specialise in the manufacture and supply of rigid plastic and metal packaging servicing for the consumer and industrial sectors.

Pact's Health and Personal Care packaging division manufactures bespoke packaging designed in collaboration with our customers to meet sustainable and commercial packaging requirements. 

From deodorants to milk powder, we use locally sourced recycled content in our state-of-the-art manufacturing sites. Our range includes bottles, jars, vials, tubes and specialities with Health Care technical componentry and closures of all shapes and sizes to promote consumer ease of use and uniqueness.

As Operations Manager you will have accountability for the Health and Personal Care (HPC) NSW sites and will report to General Manager HPC.

The Operations Manager drives, leads and is accountable for the initiatives required to achieve delivery of the site cost budget while using a continuous improvement outlook.  The role is accountable for P&L cost lines, achieved through production forecasting (S&OP), driving, and improving Safety outcomes, Operational Excellence, Supply Chain and Reliability across the site.  You will oversee functional areas and their associated personnel roles which are required to deliver these outcomes. Ongoing compliance with all safety, quality, performance, and people’s Key Performance Indicators are key measures of success that ensures the site adopts a culture of continuous improvement and customer focus on a consistent basis.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

 

  • Manage the technical and quality interactions with Plant production employees and ensure that customer focus is maintained and prioritised.
  • Proactively contribute to change strategies and programs that reinforce desired values and behaviours, improve culture, climate, morale and enhance performance and productivity.
  • Ensure respectful and ethical conduct/behaviours and a culture of equal opportunity and fairness is always prevalent onsite.
  • Take full accountability to deliver the budgeted P&L cost outcomes for the business unit. Ensure a robust S&OP process is implemented and business improvement plans to deliver PIP long term.
  • Translate PACT Group’s short and long-term objectives into a plan for management of the plant. Ensure all employees understand their contribution to the achievement of the Group’s safety, performance, and financial targets.
  • Manage the entire manufacturing process and ensure plant is continuously improving and delivering a reliable and efficient operational result.
  • Ensure operational aspect of P&L is delivering on operations objectives and key performance indicators.
  • Monitor the quality and quantities of packaged products to ensure they are accurately manufactured to grade and specifications.
  • Develop production and preventative maintenance schedules, raw materials (resin etc) requirements, systems infrastructure, and stock levels in accordance with the Site operational budgets and parameters.
  • Manage production plans to ensure resources and processes are utilised in a way that optimises inventory, machinery, labour and facilitates the achievement of sales plans and production targets.
  • Ensure that PACT’s performance management policies, processes and procedures are consistently followed and create a culture of accountability and collaboration.
  • Drive the sales and operations planning processes and ensure that plant reliability is maintained and labour efficiency is optimised for outcome and cost.
  • Ensure production plan is always adhered to and engage WHS and Quality resources in planning processes.
  • Ensure that work is carried out in a safe working manner and maintaining safe working environments.

Your skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Leadership experience operating at a senior plant management level, in an industrial manufacturing operation in a P&L profit centre environment.
  • Experienced in driving cost reduction through a continuous improvement strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading S&OP process.
  • Experience and demonstrated understanding of practical application of Operational Excellence across all roles on site and with stakeholders
  • Leadership experience at delivering safety and cultural change in the industrial or manufacturing sectors.  
  • Proven people leadership and change management experience with a collaborative and enabling approach.
  • High mechanical aptitude and Operational Excellence/LEAN implementation disciplines
  • High motivation and commitment to quality people and plant performance and customer service excellence.  
  • Strong understanding of safety principles and behaviours
  • Refined and well-developed communication and influencing skills.
  • Proven experience in working cooperatively in an industrially diverse environment
