Job Description: As a Disability Service Officer/Disability Support Worker in Australia, you'll play a crucial role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with disabilities, empowering them to lead independent and fulfilling lives. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide personalized support to individuals with disabilities in their daily activities, including personal care, meal preparation, medication management, and household tasks.
• Assist individuals in developing and achieving their personal goals, promoting independence and autonomy.
• Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that respects the rights, dignity, and choices of the individuals you support.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including healthcare professionals, family members, and other support workers, to ensure coordinated and effective care.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including progress notes, care plans, and incident reports.
• Implement behavior support strategies and crisis intervention techniques as needed, ensuring the safety and well-being of the individuals you support.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in disability support.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience working in disability support or a related field is preferred but not required.
• A compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting individuals with disabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with individuals, families, and colleagues.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and proactive attitude.
• A commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting the rights and dignity of individuals with disabilities.
• Willingness to undergo relevant background checks and obtain necessary certifications or qualifications as required by regulatory bodies.
• Completing a vocational qualification in disability or community services. This may be a Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33015) specializing in disability or a Certificate IV in Disability (CHC43115).
