We are seeking the services of a master mariner or marine surveyor to join our Port Hedland team. Reporting directly to the Branch Manager – Pilbara, the successful candidate will provide support to our established marine team in Port Hedland by undertaking the Ships Master / Draft Surveyor duties for vessels loading iron ore at Fortescue’s bulk berths.

Applicants Minimum Competency Requirements

The successful applicant will possess Master Mariner - Class 1 (unlimited) qualifications with a thorough understanding of dry bulk draft survey and vessel stability calculations and/or a professional Draft Surveyor with extensive bulk draft survey experience.

The successful applicant shall be a conscientious team player with a "can do" attitude possessing excellent communication, time management, attention to detail and organisational skills.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

The role requires the following duties to be performed as a minimum:
• Undertake the Ship Master / Draft Surveyor role, ensuring the safe co-ordination of vessel operational requirements and vessel movements.
• Closely liaise with the vessels Master and/or Officers to ensure safe loading operations during the vessels port call.
• Undertake the Draft Survey role attending to draft survey requirements ensuring the vessels compliance with all Marine Safety Regulations.
• Interfacing with our customers, clients and service providers ensuring superior customer service.
