Workfront are currently seeking a Fulltime Supervising Gardener for a fast growing business, based in Coleambally NSW that services the Solar Farm Industry providing vegetation management services. The services are primarily provided on land that is leased by solar farms from cropping or livestock farmers. Therefore, we are seeking someone with an understanding of farming practices who is able to work co-operatively with farmer landowners to deliver our services efficiently and effectively.
Duties included but not limited to:
• Liaison with Solar Farm Managers on a regular basis in relation to vegetation management requirements
• In consultation with Solar Farm Managers developing a vegetation management plan for each solar farm including, where required, preparing plans and drawings to accompany each vegetation management plan.
• Maintaining grass and lawn areas around solar farms including fertilising, watering and mowing
• Weed management including spraying and removal of weeds
• Pruning and lopping trees and hedges
• Planting trees and shrubs where required by the vegetation management plan.
• Monitoring for pests and introducing pest control
• Liaising with farm landowners to obtain access to the solar farm through farming land where necessary
• Liaising with farm landowners in relation to spraying and pesticide treatments
• Allocating tasks and supervising vegetation management workers
• Ensure all machinery is in good working order and well maintained
• Complying with WHS requirements
To be considered for this position, you would have:
• At least 3 years’ experience working in a similar role
• Experience working with farmers and on farms
• Experience in supervisory or team leader positions
• Experience working with heavy machinery
• Experience working with pesticides
Must have qualifications/Licence:
• Diploma in Horticulture, Agriculture or similar
• Qualifications in the safe application and management of pesticides (preferred)
• Qualifications in the safe use of chainsaws and similar equipment (preferred)
This position requires extensive travel and overnight stays throughout NSW and northern Victoria. The salary is $73,150 per year plus superannuation. A car will be provided for work-related travel.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo a medical prior to employment being confirmed to ensure that there are no impediments to undertaking the manual work that is inherent to the position, including lifting and carrying, involved in the position.
