About You

Are you a finance professional with a solid foundation in a large group environment? We are seeking an individual who not only understands the importance of good financial processes, but also loves working with key stakeholders to build and implement them. Your ability to understand the big picture whilst understanding the day to day impacts of decisions is where you add value through your work.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent preferred.
  • Proven experience in a senior finance role, ideally within a group or multi-business environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of delivering key finance projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems.

About The Role

The Group Finance Manager is a new role that will oversee the group reporting process, enforce group accounts policies across all businesses, and champion internal controls. This position sits above the group corporate finance team and the centralized finance functions, comprising approximately 15 staff members. It is aimed at building consistency and a robust financial framework and controls across the trading businesses that we operate. The Group Finance Manager will also own the corporate/HQ budget and be responsible for profit initiatives at the corporate level.

The driving reason for the creation of this role is our upcoming series of growth activities, which the corporate finance team will need to support. This role will play a crucial part in our 'plug and play' approach to standardizing existing operations and integrating any new operations. It is pivotal in ensuring financial accuracy, standardizing accounting practices, and driving finance transformation initiatives across the Journey Beyond Group.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Group Reporting Oversight: Ensure accurate and timely group reporting processes across business units.
  • Accounting Policy Enforcement: Consistently enforce group accounting policies across all businesses.
  • Internal Controls Champion: Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of robust internal controls.
  • Standardization of Group Accounting Practices: Standardize accounting practices across all Journey Beyond businesses.
  • Lead Finance Projects: Drive key finance projects aligning with the group’s strategic objectives.
  • Financial Controls Ownership: Maintain and improve financial controls across the group.
  • Team Leadership: Lead the corporate finance and administration teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Corporate Budget Management: Own and manage the corporate budget, ensuring alignment with financial goals and objectives.
  • Month-End Close Coordination: Coordinate and deliver the month-end close schedule, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Cash Collection Responsibility: Oversee and ensure effective cash collection processes.
  • Coaching and Development: Provide coaching and development opportunities for direct reports, enhancing team capabilities.
  • Integration of New Acquisitions: Seamlessly integrate any new acquisitions into the Journey Beyond group accounting framework.

This is a permanent full-time position based at our Head Office in Adelaide’s CBD.
